'I spend Christmas in Benidorm - it becomes a whole new place and NYE is epic'
A British man who moved to Benidorm to run his stag do company claims the Spanish party town is transformed over Christmas – while bars are still open and a festive sex show still runs he claims it’s much more "romantic" and attracts more couples and families than mid-summer revellers. He says there’s "something for everyone" in Benidorm over the off-season and that the weather is still warm enough to escape the UK cold.
Frank Benidorm, who runs Fck It Parties and posts on TikTok @frankthestag man, explained that the "atmosphere" of Blackpool in the Sun – otherwise known as Benidorm, in Alicante, Spain – as there are fewer holidaymakers filling the streets.
He noted that there are far less wild partygoers and stag dos but you can still get your summer clothes out and even "enjoy Christmas dinner at a nice restaurant".

Speaking to Daily Star, Frank said: "The temperatures are still in the 20C’s and women still walk around in dresses and crop tops. It can be windy, but the weather is pretty good in December though it can get chilly at night. Christmas over here is good, about 30% of the bars are open and over Christmas a lot more re-open too. Benidorm is still running and it’s actually really nice to have Christmas here.
"The weather’s good, you get a break from the norm and it’s not the UK or Ireland – it can get quite busy at Christmas but it wouldn’t be like during the peak season. There’s still a good nightlife though and you’ve got the beaches. I can’t remember the last time it rained on Christmas."

Despite being able to go out for a tipple, Frank noted that the clientele changes over winter which may make it appeal more to those who prefer a relaxing holiday. He explained: "This time of year, there’s more families and couples. People who want to escape the UK for a few days. Some of the restaurants offer Christmas dinners and everyone celebrates it.
"There’s a bit of a switcheroo too as the workers go home for Christmas and family comes to visit other workers here. It becomes a whole new place that’s very different from the UK."

For Christmas, Frank noted that there’s a big Christmas tree by the beach, but, while Christmas may be a more relaxing affair, Frank claims New Year’s Eve is the big event in Benidorm. He commented: "It’s pretty epic. A lot of people head down to the beach even at night." Fireworks explode in the night sky above the town on the strike of midnight each year too.
He added: "To be honest, I think it’s amazing, it’s still in the 20C’s, you can walk around in shorts and a t-shirt. Prices are fairly reasonable on hotels in the off-season and flights can be reasonable too. It’s a romantic time, a lovely time, it’s not the normal going out boozing and partying and it’s amazing really because it’s Christmas."

Plus, the locals and residents like to get involved in charity work too – Frank managed to provide Christmas presents for 27 children at a local British nursery whose families were struggling to afford it this year.
