Peter Crouch's wife Abby Clancy feared the worst when 'legs went numb' during health scare
Abbey Clancy, the wife of renowned English footballer Peter Crouch, has opened up about a terrifying health scare she suffered when her legs started to go numb.
Speaking on the Newlyweds podcast, the 37-year-old explained how she went to a specialist at a hospital as she feared the worst. Abbey said she began to panic after her legs began to go numb. She was “hysterical” and “couldn’t stop crying” once in the doctor’s office, believing she had a form of a challenging condition. Peter, 42, revealed his wife of more than a decade has health anxiety and wishes the celebrity would “worry less.”
Abbey Clancy’s health scare

Abbey told podcast’s hosts, Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing, she believed she had Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and went to visit a specialist.
However, she was told she wasn’t suffering from anything severe or worrying … it was just the fact that her jeans were too tight.
“It’s when I had these jeans on, they were so tight they would stop the blood where I was sitting down,” the model explained.

“But googling it, it was MS. I’d been holding [the worry] in so much that when I got to the doctor, I went hysterical and couldn’t stop crying.”
According to Healthline, MS occurs when “your immune system attacks myelin, which is the protective layer around nerve fibers,” and causes lesions that can be lasting and have an impact on your brain sending signals to the rest of your body. There is currently no cure for the chronic disease, but there are treatments that can aid those who have it in managing its symptoms.
Abbey suffers from health anxiety
Though the medical professional she saw reassured Abbey Clancy about her health scare, they suggested she may be suffering from health anxiety. The condition, formerly known as hypochondria, leads people to have irrational fears over their health. They obsess about symptoms they might have and worry they are suffering from severe illnesses and/or conditions.
It can become so obsessive it may become debilitating for the person suffering from health anxiety.
Peter said on the podcast: “Health anxiety is a thing, she has got an issue with that, I’d like Abs to worry less. It feels like she takes on everyone’s problems, It’s a nice thing, but it takes its toll.”
